Trinity Christian College will be hosting the “Knowledge for the Future: Higher Education, Change and Christian Responsibility” conference on November 11 and 12, 2021 (new dates).
Education and the pursuit of knowledge was one of the primary characteristics of the Protestant Reformation. Western culture still places an extreme value on knowledge and education. However, higher education, particularly in North America, is facing unprecedented challenges and, as a result, significant changes. The conference will explore the challenges and changes higher education faces. However, recognizing the continued importance of knowledge in the Christian faith and for transforming society, the conference will also explore how educators, Christian and otherwise, might see the changes in higher education as opportunity. Within this discussion, the conference will discuss how society members, especially Christians, might view higher education as a societal responsibility. That is, topics of discussion will include the role of higher education in a flourishing society that reflects, as the Reformers emphasized, God’s good creation and visions of shalom for individuals and communities.
